EB-5 Immigration through investment is an attractive option for wealthy people who want to immigrate to the United States. By investing USD500,000 to a regional center which is approved by the USCIS, an investor can obtain a green card as long he or she can prove that the half million investment was lawfully obtained. Our firm recently handled an EB-5 immigration case for Ms. Chan, an immigrant investor from China. Ms. Chan had received a large sum of money from a civil settlement, and used the funds to invest in a designated regional center in California under the EB-5 immigrant investor program.
Through joint efforts and diligent work from our attorney, the regional center, and the client Ms. Chan, we successfully filed the I-526 based on our experienced and concise presentation of the evidence related to Ms. Chan's case. We showed that she meets the requirements for an immigrant investor and her substantial investment constitutes a solid base for the regional center to thrive.
Ms. Chan's case was submitted in December 2010, and was approved by the USCIS California Center in May 2011. Ms. Chan was very pleased when our firm informed her that the case was approved without a RFE in about 5 months.
An immigrant investor initially receives a conditional green card, but after two years the investor can file to have the conditions removed. Our firm helped Ms. Chan file to remove the conditions on her green card and in June 2014, we received the Notice of Removal of Conditional Basis of Lawful Permanent Residence for Ms. Chan. Now she is able to work and live in the U.S. legally without any worries.
