Dr. Liu
Dr. Liu is a scientist in the field of land subsidence and water source management. He has a Master¡¯s degree from a Chinese university and obtained his Ph.D. in the U.S. During our free consultation, we pointed out his strengths and weaknesses, and concluded that he had good chance to win an NIW case. Dr. Liu had rich experience working on the subsidence problem of Shanghai for many years and has many publications in China. However, he had no publications in the U.S. when we took the case. When we initiated the case, our attorney provided detailed and thoughtful advice to Dr. Liu in all aspects of the NIW preparation including how to find qualified references and what kind of supporting documents needed to be collected.
Dr. Liu¡¯s case was not strong, compared to other NIW clients of our firm. Our attorney worked diligently with Dr. Liu, providing strategies through drafting a powerful petition letter. In the petition, we not only mentioned his academic achievements prior to his arrival in the US, but also highlighted his critical roles and contributions in research projects funded by the U.S. federal government on land subsidence monitoring, flooding disasters caused by subsidence, and protection of groundwater resources. Especially, we underscored his capabilities in developing new methodologies to prevent land subsidence and encourage better use of soil and water resources to promote agricultural productivity in the US.
Through joint efforts and hard work from both our attorney and Dr. Liu, we successfully convinced the USCIS officer that Dr. Liu was among the elite researchers in his specialized field and that his contribution benefits the US at a level greater than his peers. Dr. Liu¡¯s petition was approved by the USCIS Nebraska Service Center in October 2008.
